Yuri!!! on Ice is a figure skating series created by Sayo Yamamoto and Mitsurō Kubo. The anime has twelve episodes, there is a side story manga titled "Yuri on Ice Side Story: Welcome to The Madness", and an original film scheduled.
Synopsis[]
Yuuri Katsuki has trained intensely to become Japan's top figure skater, and has failed to advance in the figure skating Grand Prix Final. Returning home dispirited, Yuuri then finds a video of him successfully demonstrating a routine done by Victor Nikiforov has gone viral. The five-time world champion himself arrives at Yuuri's house offering to train him. Yuri Plisetsky was also supposed to be mentored by Victor, as preparations to re-enter the ice skating world are underway.

Yuuri Katsuki[]
Japan's top figure skater at twenty three years old, Yuuri did not react well to his loss. He is close with his mother and father who run the last bathhouse in their town. Yuuri travelled abroad when he was eighteen to train under Coach Celestino Cialdini where he befriended his roommate Phichit Chulanont. Anxiety is a factor in his initial reaction to interacting with his idol Victor, but is alleviated somewhat when practicing.
Victor Nikiforov[]
Comfortable with the spotlight on him, Victor is fond of surprising the audience. Whilst he is capable both in practicing ice skating and winning competitions, he can be absent minded. Deciding to coach Yuuri and travelling to his house to initiate that, Victor seemingly forgot he was also to train Yuri Plisetsky; furthermore, he did not entirely appreciate what was at stake with the Hot Springs on Ice event. Whilst independent such as in exploring areas nearby in Japan, Victor often turns to others in the same manner a child would. He asks Yuuri about drinks when they were flying, to asking him to run him a bath and assuming his coach, Yakov Feltsman, would also help Yuuri when he had to leave.
Yuri Plisetsky[]
Possessing a determination that can cross over to being confrontational, Yuri can voice rude opinions of others and often shouts them. He is close to his grandfather, having been raised by him and began figure skating as a child. He has won the Junior World Championship twice as well as the Junior Grand Prix Final Championship. He follows Victor to Japan who is training Yuuri and then himself as well.
Story Introduction[]
Yuuri, a figure skater, has just lost by a major landslide. He looks up to another figure skater named Viktor. Viktor is inspired to work with Yuuri as his coach upon a video of him is leaked skating to one of Viktor's routines perfectly.
